In 2008, BB2C helped Rudi’s birth family purchase a plot of land in a newly formed village. However, the Cambodian army subsequently seized their land, and that of all the other villagers, illegally.
Land grabs are, unfortunately, widespread in Cambodia and leave the victims in desperate straits. BB2C was the only organization able to get food and supplies through to the homeless and brutalized villagers. (Happily, Rudi’s birth family is safe and sound.) In our attempt to get the land restored to the villagers, we enlisted the aid of New York Senator Charles Schumer and the U.S. State Department. The issue remains unresolved. Read more (PDF).
