Pump testing begins in Chhouk Kranhas

As part of BB2C’s current major project providing low-cost, portable pumps for irrigation, villagers in Chhouk Kranhas are testing out the Hip Pump for use with their cucumber and watermelon crops. Currently, the villagers’ fields are over two miles from their homes.  When they reach their fields they must carry water in buckets to irrigate. The MoneyMaker Hip Pump, as well as the larger Super MoneyMaker Pump (SMMP), are products of KickStart, Inc. Chhouk Kranhas is the first village to try out the pumps, being introduced to Cambodia by BB2C.

Our Cambodian colleague, Ysa Benjamin, writes…

“When they (the villagers) saw the Hip Pump, they felt very interested in it. They really wanted to see how it works, and will tell us if they need either SMMP or Hip Pump. They said that if Hip Pump works well, they may decide to get Hip Pump because it is more convenient to take it wherever they want even a child can carry it, and is much cheaper.”
